CVS CAMPUS TOUR (Eye Care 101 for Students)
Computer Vision Syndrome or CVS is considered one of today’s fast rising vision illnesses afflicting hundreds of students and professionals alike. Anyone, regardless of age or gender, exposed to a video terminal such a computer or television repeatedly over a long period of time can likely be a CVS candidate. CVS sufferers may experience symptoms like dry eyes, burning or stinging sensation, blurry vision, diplovia or double vision after work, tearing, headaches and fatigue.
This alarming eye illness was further expounded on in a special talk series for school campuses spearheaded by CIBA VISION, an affiliate of Novartis Healthcare Philippines Inc., called “Computer Vision Syndrome: A Close Encounter on Vision Hazards”. Campuses visited include Centro Escolar University, St. Scholastica’s College, Delos Santos – STI College of Nursing and University of Santo Tomas.
The CVS lecture was expertly discussed by Dr. Jeanette Romualdez-Oo, Ciba Vision Philippines Professional Services Consultant and Dr. Cirila Salcedo, Product Manager of IOS Marketing.
Salient information on the cause and effect of CVS, the importance of eye care, key advantages of contact lens usage and the latest revolutionary lenses from CIBA VISION like Focus Dailies Aqua Release and O2Optix were imparted to the students and faculty members.
O2Optix breathable silicone hydrogel lens developed by CIBA VISION is designed to give optimum lens comfort and wear from sunrise to sunset. This revolutionary breathable lens offers five times more oxygen which greatly reduces eye discomfort and helps maintain healthy-looking eyes.
An open invitation to join TeenZone Club, an upcoming interactive and dynamic youth skewed club organized by CIBA VISION was extended to the attendees. Optical care, special discounts at selected dining, entertainment and wellness establishments are just some of the privileges that will be enjoyed by TeenZone Club members.
Along with the interactive talk, a free eye check using the state-of-the art auto refractor machine and free trial lense fitting were conducted which were readily availed of by students, faculty members and school staff.
